Performing Arts Clubs

The choir officers appoint student co-directors, who implement auditions, music selection, rehearsals, and performances for the ensemble. Auditions take place at the beginning of each school year, and as needed. The KHS Choir Director oversees the ensemble.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Each fall, Kinnelon High School puts on a dramatic production (non-musical).  The Fall Drama is open to all KHS students, and students can participate in a variety of ways, including on-stage and behind the scenes. Auditions take place in September or October for all on-stage roles.

 

 

 

 

The Jazz-Rock Ensemble also known as Jazz Band) is a group of student musicians that meet after school to learn the art of jazz, fusion and rock music.  This ensemble is also typically referred to as a "Big Band".  Students will learn a variety of different styles of music and will also be introduced to improvisation.  It is required that any student who would like to be involved in Jazz Band have previous experience playing their instrument either in band class at school or privately on their own. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The percussion ensemble is open to any percussion player in Concert Band or Wind Ensemble. However, other instruments may also participate if they are willing to learn some basic percussion instruments. Piano players make awesome keyboard percussion players. The group will meet one evening a week for two hours(TBD) in the KHS band room. In the Spring the ensemble will play on the final concert of the year and will perform several assorted selections. This is a great opportunity to further develop and/or learn new skills. Last, playing in a smaller group is a great way to gain a deeper understanding of ensemble skills.
