Senior Class

All of your teachers should have been verbally requested at the end of the last school year. If you have not done so already, please speak to your teachers ASAP. The teachers also need to be added to your Naviance account. (Additional Instructions)

Have a finalized list of colleges you are applying to and their deadlines. Many schools are offering
virtual tours and visits. All schools need to be added to your Naviance list with your selected deadlines.

Although some colleges use their own platform, most will use the Common
Application (commonapp.org). We recommend making an account and filling it out slowly, as it can take
some time to find all the information required.  Early Application Deadlines start typically November1st/15th. We recommend completing and sending the applications before those dates. Students can
submit their application whenever they are ready. They do not need to wait for high school documents.

• Work on your Essay(s). Many students will work with their English Teachers, tutors, or family.  Your counselor is also happy to review your essay. Please give them a few days to review!

You will need to link your Common Application and Naviance together. There are a few simple steps you must follow. Please use the instructions provided: PowerPoint or VIDEO. You do not need to finish the Common Application to link the two together; you only need to create an account.

Complete Request Form - You will need to complete the “TRANSCRIPT RELEASE AND APPLICATION LIST FORM,” Outlining your colleges. We request two weeks from your earliest deadline to ensure that we can get all paperwork there on time. The Counseling Office will use Naviance to send your transcripts and letters of recommendation unless requested otherwise.

Need to Be Requested Directly from the college providing credit once the credit is completed/issued.

KHS is not permitted to send your test scores, so please send them directly from CollegeBoard/ACT to your colleges if you have decided to submit them.
 

 This fall, the FAFSA (Free Application for Student Federal Aid) will open, and the U.S. Dept of Education is working toward an earlier launch this year, proposed for October 1st. Please work with your family to file your FAFSA (and CSS Profile for private schools, if needed).
