Freshman Class

Get Oriented:

• Understand your daily schedule, class locations, and locker combination.
• Identify support: Know where the media center, extra help options, and the school counselor's office are located.

 Academic Planning:

•  Create a Four-Year Plan covering graduation and college admission requirements.

Habits & Involvement:

• Establish a Study Routine by dedicating specific time slots each day for homework and review.
• Join or add extracurricular activities that genuinely interest you.
• Get involved in school events (plays, games, spirit events) to feel part of the community.
  • Attend the Activity and Club fair in early September.

Academics:

• Focus on doing your best in classes, as freshman year grades count toward your overall transcript and applications.
• Your performance Freshman year will set the pace for the classes you are recommended for moving forward.
• Review your GPA at the end of the year to see if you are on track for your post-secondary goals/colleges.

Records:

• Start a "Resume" File to track awards, volunteer hours, and leadership roles.

 Course Selection (10th Grade Classes) With Counselor:

• Decide which courses (or other advanced classes) you want to take next year. Consult with your counselor, teachers, and parents.

 Testing:

• Take a practice test for the PSAT/SAT through the College Board website.

Career & College Exploration:

• Explore the Naviance platform and Self-Discovery Questionnaires for Careers and Colleges.
• Research careers: Identify required education and expected salaries.
• Start thinking about college/post-secondary: Create a list of colleges or careers that are interesting to you.
